    AmeriCorps Position Opening

    The Advocacy & Resource Center is looking for a self-motivated person to make a difference in Sheridan County by helping victims of violent crime.

    This opportunity will help you get first-hand experience serving in a high-crisis capacity, gain community connections, develop skills and provide you with the chance to create social change.

    AmeriCorps is a full-time, one year (1700 hours/25-36 hours a week) commitment. A modest living allowance of $15,200 for the year will be provided.

    Benefits include:

    • Education award of $5,815.00 to be awarded after completion to use for future or past school balances
    • Health insurance for the member
    • Child care if eligible
    • Training and transportation reimbursements

    Summary of duties and responsibilities:
    - Provide outreach to the community in presentation settings
    - Provide financial empowerment training to victims of crime
    - Participate in at least one national day of service
    - Implement one community service project utilizing volunteers
    - Help Center staff serve victims of violent crimes in a high-crisis setting
    -Be on-call to help assist victims of violent crimes
    - Other duties required by site supervisor

    Applicant should have strong interpersonal skills, both verbal and written. Must be able to deal with emotional aspects of working with victims of violent crime in a non-judgmental and empathetic manner. The ability and flexibility to respond to 24 hour on call situations.

    Training will be provided to the right applicant.
