    Victim Advocate Full Time Position

    The Advocacy & Resource Center is seeking a full-time direct service advocate position to begin July, 2018. Will train the right applicant.


    • Responsible for assisting victims in dealing with the immediate and long-term impact of victimization
    • Performs highly interactive and assistance duties directly working with victims; does case management and service referral functions
    • Dedicated to upholding the rights of victims of crime and strives for the empowerment and recovery of victims emotionally, physically, and financially
    • Delivers services to crime victims with dignity, compassion, and respect
    • Understands the importance of public’s perception and need for education regarding violent crime victims
    • Advocate for victims and survivors to service agencies, law enforcement, educational institutions and housing authorities while maintaining positive relationships with those entities
    • Create and present educational trainings and public outreach opportunities to the community, educational environments, and other groups or agencies


    • Effective and helpful listening without judgement while maintaining safe and healthy boundaries
    • Empower victims and survivors with compassion
    • Excellent communication with staff, colleagues, and service users
    • Work with diverse individuals in the office and in the community
    • Familiar with Microsoft Office Programs, iOS, and other technologies that enhance an office environment
    • Ability to create media such as handouts, videos, brochures, social media posts and images and other outreach materials is desired but not required
    • Ability to work within a team but be effective independently
    • Work in a fast-paced environment with individuals who are in high-crisis


    • Pass a background check
    • Complete a 40 hour state mandated advocacy training (plus other various trainings before direct service work begins) provided by the Center
    • Have safe and insured transportation
    • Ability to be on-call during weeknights/weekends to provide crisis services through the Center’s 24 hour crisis line
    • Be able to lift, carry or move up to 25lbs
