October 8, 2018 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness month.
It’s a time to remember those we’ve lost to abuse and to voice our commitment to helping those who are still suffering- to take a stand against the cycle of abuse.
Abuse lives in secrecy, it thrives in the dark, so we’re going to shine a bright bright on it this month by hosting the March Against Family Violence rally!
We’ve teamed up with the Compass Center for Families to take a stand against domestic violence in our community.
Join us Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 9am to send a message loud and clear that:
Family violence is NOT acceptable.
Our children are too important to sacrifice to the cycle of violence.
Our community is too important to suffer the lasting effects of family violence.
To the people who feel trapped in an abusive relationship- you’re not alone. We can help.
We’ll meet at the Sheridan County Courthouse parking area, next to US Bank, on Coffeen Avenue.
The march will end at Whitney Commons where beverages and snacks will be provided.
Come dressed in PURPLE to show your support and bring signs with messages like:
- Love is not Pain
- Not all Wounds are Visible
- We Believe You
- Hitting is NEVER Ok
- Fear is NOT Love
- or whatever saying you feel carries the most meaning for you.
